age 12, when I used my first TRS-80, and a
love of mathematics since I first learned to
count. I attended Swarthmore College and
majored in Mathematics, while working two
main jobs on the side: Assisting students in
the computer lab as well as tutoring
individuals and small groups in various math
topics.
My twin interests in math and computers
followed me to New York City. For the last 10
years, I've worked full-time in the IT field, in a
variety of industries but mainly focused on
publishing (see Employment History to the
right.) Alongside my full time work, I have
always done a variety of computer consulting
projects for individuals, small business and
non-profits.
I have also offered tutoring services focused
mainly in math, on a private basis and also
as a volunteer tutor and teacher at The Door,
a youth services center, and in the NYC
public school system. I've gained significant
experience in clarifying mathematical
concepts for students with a very wide variety
of backgrounds and learning styles, on
topics ranging from basic arithmetic to
business math to college-level coursework. I
am very familiar with the New York City
curriculum and with the exams (New SAT,
Regents, etc.) that NYC students face.
